Easy 40-minute Jambalaya

A classic dish from New Orleans made with turkey smoked sausage, shrimp, yellow rice, bell peppers and onions.

  • 6.9 oz package of Zatarain's Yellow rice
  • ½ onion chopped
  • ½ green pepper chopped
  • 1 pack Turkey smoked sausage
  • 1 lb shrimp tails off
  • 8 oz can of tomato sauce you will only use about 6 oz
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • tsp creole seasoning
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • salt and pepper to taste


  • Cook the rice according to package directions.
  • In a large skillet, sauté the onion, pepper, and garlic in the oil for about 2 minutes.
  • Add the sausage and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the cooked rice.
  • Stir in the tomato sauce.
  • Add the creole, salt and pepper seasonings.
  • Cook until mixture is firm. Typically takes about 15-20 minutes.
  • Add the shrimp and cook until pink on both sides. Typically takes about 5 minutes.
  • Serve warm!
