Easy 40-minute Jambalaya
A classic dish from New Orleans made with turkey smoked sausage, shrimp, yellow rice, bell peppers and onions.
- 6.9 oz package of Zatarain's Yellow rice
- ½ onion chopped
- ½ green pepper chopped
- 1 pack Turkey smoked sausage
- 1 lb shrimp tails off
- 8 oz can of tomato sauce you will only use about 6 oz
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1½ tsp creole seasoning
- 1 garlic clove minced
- salt and pepper to taste
Cook the rice according to package directions.
In a large skillet, sauté the onion, pepper, and garlic in the oil for about 2 minutes.
Add the sausage and cook for 5 minutes.
Add the cooked rice.
Stir in the tomato sauce.
Add the creole, salt and pepper seasonings.
Cook until mixture is firm. Typically takes about 15-20 minutes.
Add the shrimp and cook until pink on both sides. Typically takes about 5 minutes.
